Here's How Many Crashes CT State Police Responded To Over Thanksgiving Holiday

Connecticut State Police troopers dished out nearly 3,500 tickets and investigated two fatalities as they conducted special enforcement details over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Beginning at midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 20 and spanning through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, Connecticut State Police supplemented their normal patrol force with additional troopers who were targeting motorists on local roads and highways.

Troopers investigated 573 reported crashes, including 60 with injuries. There were two fatal crashes, in Bridgeport and New Haven. In total, 2,829 tickets were issued and 573 crashes were investigated. Last year, troopers issued a total of 2,658 tickets.

During the enforcement detail, Connecticut State Police troopers issued:

  • 573 tickets for speeding violations;
  • 291 tickets for seatbelt violations;
  • 25 tickets for DUI arrests, and;
  • 1,965 tickets for other hazardous violations.
